You may choose to help Rusul and more

Recently, WNCPSR received $800 a Grace E. Lee Peace Award which we are offering to help RUSUL, that 6 year old Iraqi girl who was injured in a US missile strike in Fallujah in November 2006. This fund is to be a "matching grant" for No More Victims – Asheville. RUSUL was playing with her brother, her sister, and another neighborhood child when the missile hit them. It killed her brother and the neighborhood child, took both legs off her sister Salee, and badly damaged RUSUL's right leg. RUSUL's cousin, Salee, came to the US in 2007 for surgery and prosthetics, and she is a much happier child. This intervention also had a significant impact on her father, and had an impact on citizens in Asheville when Salee visited us. No More Victims seeks to provide surgery and prosthetics for Rusul too, to help her heal and provide her with a fuller life. WNCPSR's matching grant is to help raise needed funds for RUSUL's care. We hope that those in our community who want to do something to help mitigate the effects of war will make a donation. Also, those who wish to further awareness in our community of the true costs of war are also encouraged to make a donation. We believe, along with No More Victims – Asheville, that having an Iraqi child in our community will increase awareness and further healing of the Iraqi – American wounds of war. We expect RUSUL to arrive in our area within the next few months.
