“Never Again!” 75 years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki…

WNC Physicians for Social Responsibility, and Gender and Radiation Impact Project invite you to participate in on-line events that commemorate 75 years without the use of nuclear weapons in war since those fateful days in August 1945.  We affirm that we are here, and sadly, the nuclear weapons are too. 

Thursday August 6:  LIVESTREAM of people from all over the US offering remembrance and hope in the nuclear age. “Tune in” at https://www.hiroshimanagasaki75.org/events  Livestream will begin at 11 am – and will be LIVE until 8 pm. The “Line-up” is posted on that link as well.

Friday August 7, noon: Tune into the State of Things radio show—in Asheville go to Blue Ridge Public Radio (FM 88.1) to hear an interview with friend of WNC PSR, author, and speaker Kathleen Burkinshaw. Kathleen’s mother survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and never told her daughter, until her granddaughter was learning about how our military destroyed two cities in Japan at the end of WWII. Sunday August 9, 11 am – 8 pm:  LIVESTREAM, at 2:15 WNC PSR shares the story of our new Asheville City Memorial to the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At 4:10 Mary Olson, Director of Gender and Radiation Impact Project, shares Signs of HOPE in Nuclear Times.
